| Peer to Peer -
This is the most basic PC network. By connecting
cables between 2 or more computers files, printers and the Internet
can all be shared. This type of network is ideal for a small
business that have no security concerns. By setting up your network
for basic file sharing will allow files to be opened and saved to a
central PC in the business.
There is a risk of files being deleted and lost
forever as the Recycle Bin does not work on a Peer to Peer network.
This means should a user accidentally delete or edit a file and save
it, information can be lost forever without a backup.
Although we set up these networks for small
business clients we would suggest you seriously consider the
advantages of a file server installation. The extra cost of the
Small Business Server Standard edition would mean that you would
have a secure system with backups and file shadow copy.

Server and Client Network -
By installing a client server network you can be
sure of file security.
Shadow file copy allows you to restore a previous
version of a file or folder should it be deleted or wrongly amended.
By clicking on the previous version and restoring to its original
location or to another for analysis.
System security allows permissions to be set on
folders depending on the role on the business or by username.
Permissions can be set to full control, read only, create but not
amend, create and amend the list is endless but will give you a file
system that your users cannot abuse.
